"NOW JUSTICE FOR MUMBAI"

The dramatic US operation to take out Osama bin Laden from a mansion in Pakistan’s Abbotabad invariably brings up memories of Mumbai’s own terror attacks and their links with Pakistan.

November 2008 comes up first of course, when for the first time we managed to capture a terrorist in the act and through him managed to expose all the lies told by Pakistan whenever it is confronted with evidence of its involvement on attacks on India.
The trial of the Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab was a triumph of the Indian justice system but his capture was a remarkable achievement by a beleaguered and bamboozled police force that was grappling not just with the deadly attacks but also the psychological impact of the deaths of senior and well-respected senior police officers. Tukaram Omble, by heroically sacrificing his own life to catch Kasab, has left us a debt which we can never repay, as a city, nation or society.
But before Kasab and his group of audacious killers crept into Mumbai via the sea from Pakistan, the city had already suffered the serial bomb blasts of March 1993 and after that the evidence that the blasts were a reaction to the horrific post-Babri demolition riots of December 1992 and January 1993. Dawood Ibrahim and Tiger Memon, once dreaded underworld dons, fled to Pakistan a few years before and had masterminded the blasts from that country. Members of Tiger Memon’s family who came back to India provided sufficient evidence of this.
As Pakistan denied for 10 years that Osama bin Laden was in their country it has also denied Ibrahim’s presence - despite all the evidence. Even when Ibrahim’s daughter married former Pakistani cricketer Javed Miandad’s son, the Pakistani government took no action.
Now that Pakistan is under the world’s scanner after Osama was found living in a military town barely a km from its premier military academy, this is the ideal time for India to demand action on its list of most wanted criminals who have taken shelter there. Those who are baying for the blood of Kasab might remember that the planners and the masterminds of the Lashkar-e-Tayba — notably Hafiz Saeed - are roaming free in Pakistan. US ambassador to India Timothy Roemer has now demanded that Pakistan take action against Hafiz Saeed and reiterated the US’s commitment to helping India get justice for 26/11.
Cynical though it may sound, it was not until 2008 that the US and the world took India’s warnings about terrorist groups flourishing in Pakistan seriously. The Government of India must prove its solidarity with the sacrifices and the suffering of the people of Mumbai and take advantage of Pakistan’s current embarrassment so that we can also get our own taste of “justice”.

INDIA & TERRORISM

Terrorism actually refers to those violent acts which are intended to threaten or terrorize the minds of people. The terrorist activities are done to achieve some ideological, political or religious goals. US law defines terrorism as any premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents.
The weapon of terrorism is as old as human society & various laws have been enacted from time to time to combat with it. Terrorism is very different from other crimes. It particularly retards the development, progress & peace of a nation & mankind as a whole. Despite of universal condemnation of terrorism by all governments & nations, most of them seem to be not free from it except of those who have taken stern measure against it. In short, it has become a part of the political process for the achievement & promotion of certain goals & interests.
India has been combating with insurgency & terrorist attacks from Naxals, Ulfa & Maoists & Pak-based & supported terrorist outfits like Lashkare Taiba (LeT), Jaish Muhammad & HUJI which are linked with AL-Qaida since 1960’s. But because of its lenient attitude towards it India has not yet been able to overcome it.
Our image on the world front gets hampered if we dont take stern measures against the terrorists involved in attacks on Mumbai and Parliament. When cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Jaipur are targeted, the target is also India's economic rise. When our economy is hurt, our people are hurt. Our democracy is hurt. The forces of terrorism, inspired by ideologies of hatred, intolerance and exclusion pose today a fundamental challenge to liberal democracies, pursuit of secular ideals, pluralism and all that we associate with freedom, the rule of law and human rights. They pose a challenge to democracy at home, to democracy in our region, to democracy around the world. These terrorists seek to pit one community against another. There is a systematic effort to spread communal disharmony and conflict. There is an integral link between our defence of human rights, our defence of the rule of law and our fight against the forces of terrorism, extremism and intolerance.
Today, we Indians will have to stand united against terrorism irrespective of our caste, colour, creed or religion. We will have to remember that terrorism has no religion. It’s high time now, if we don’t take stern measures against terrorism today may be it will be too late tomorrow.

JAGRITI now in Newspaper's

In less then a month of starting Jagriti an article about this awareness initiative was published in one of the reputed newspaper of India. An article about Jagriti was published in Hindustan Times Lucknow edition on 23rd April.

The Article read :-
Unlike others of their age group, vacations after class 10 exams are a busy period for these lads of the city. Making plans, convincing people, collecting funds, drafting posters to sensitise people against terrorism is their  agenda.
Amritanshu Jaiswal, Aayush Rastogi and Apoorv Trivedi all of 15 years of age have initiated an awareness campaign ' Jagriti ' to sensitise people against terrorism.Aayush, the brain child behind the idea says:"I read about the Afzal Guru and Ajmal Kasab in the newspapers. They should get the strictest punishment by law for the sake of those who suffered in terror attacks." The young crusaders plan to send the collective opinions of the people against terrorism to the prime minister.
Discussing about the initiative, Apoorv said:"We are busy collecting postcards with statements of support from the people. We are also trying to strengthen our mission by inviting supporters through social networking sites and signature campaigns."
Busy motivating people to raise their voices against terrorism and unite them for the cause through their blog and messages, the boys have succeeded in getting many supporters. The team now includes15 active citizens including lawyers, retired teachers and other government officials who have extended support and joined the campaign. The movement initiated by Anna Hazare against corruption that united the entire nation recently has acted as a catalyst for this young team that seeks support of active citizens for the cause of the nation."No matter how long the journey is, but there is alway's a first step towards it. Our effort is just like that," says the leader of the group.

Ø   *  Do we really want another hijack of an airplane like the one in Kandhar to let them free?

Just think about it & and help us in our campaign by sending a postcard or email to the Prime Minister demanding him for early execution of the punishment awarded by various courts to Ajmal Kasab & Afzal Guru.

Our Project Report

                AN ENLIGHTMENT CAMPAIGN

PREPARE THE NATION, CREATE AN OPINION

First terror attack held in India in 1966 in Assam in which more than 55 people were killed and 127 were injured. Since then India has suffered more than 160 attacks in which thousands of people were either killed or injured. Now it’s high time .The main reason behind is the image of India as a soft corner state. The judicial process in India is lengthy and tedious. It takes many years for awarding a terrorist a verdict. Moreover, the terrorists who have been awarded death sentence are not hanged for years. In this campaign we would like to draw the attention of our government to carry out the punishment awarded to these terrorists as soon as possible. It is really a matter of great shame that all the parties in the governance for the sake of their vested interest of vote politics  and on the name of governance of international policies prefers to keep the execution of the punishments awarded to the terrorists by various courts pending for a long time. These terrorists who have taken the precious life of our dear ones should pay for each and every tear that has fallen from the eyes of the families of the martyrs.

In this campaign we will simultaneously undertake both signature and postcard campaign.  We will write postcards to the Prime Minister demanding him to issue order for immediate execution of Ajmal Kasab and Afzal Guru. We want to tell the government that we do not want these terrorists alive for another plane hijacks like the one in Kandhar or kidnapping of a Minister’s daughter to happen so that we can free those terrorists who have killed our dear ones. We want to set an example that anyone who acts against the interest or pride of our country will be severely punished.

                                                                 AJMAL KASAB

                                                             AFZAL GURU

If these terrorists are kept alive there is a strong possibility that another conspiracy like the one which happened in Kandhar may happen again to get these terrorists free. Moreover if they are not severely punished a wrong sentiment will go to the world that anyone can do anything against the state in India but he will not be punished. This will further give rise to terrorism. Because of our lenient attitude towards terrorism today more than 232 out of 608 districts of our country are afflicted, at differing intensities, by various insurgent and terrorist movements. In 2006, our national security advisor MK Narayanan said, that there are as many as 800 terrorist cells operating in India. If we want to stop these terrorist activities we will have to take a stern step against them. The foremost step that needs to be taken is quick judgment and strict punishment against the people involved in terrorist activities because the country is governed by the Iron hands.

When any terrorist is caught in India he is not punished rather, he is given royal treatment in Indian prison for many years. Probably waiting till his gang kidnaps a celebrity, enabling them to pressurize the government to let him free.  Till now more than Rs 60cr has been spent on Ajmal Kasab. The annual expenditure on terrorists is more than 4,400cr .If this money would have been spent on education of poor children India would have taken a huge benefit out of it. We need to think that in a country like India where more than 41.6% people fall below the poverty line can we afford to spend millions of tax payer’s money on these terrorists rather than on work of public interest.
The anti terrorism legislation failed to give a punishment to a terrorist. In case of Afzal Guru the accused of attack on the Indian parliament, who has been awarded death sentence by the Supreme Court but was not executed due to flimsy excuse that his mercy application is pending before the President. This shows the loopholes in the Indian Judicial system which becomes so liberal before the criminal’s who keep on attacking the Temple of Democracy in India. Similarly, in the case of Ajmal Kasab the only alive terrorist who attacked Mumbai on 26/11/2008 and killed hundreds of people. Today even after more than two years of this event he has not been punished by the anti terrorism legislation. and was arrested by our brave soldiers who sacrificed their life for this cause because of the loopholes in our system.
In this campaign what we want is nothing but justice. We demand justice for martyrs.  We demand justice for those who have suffered due to these terrorists. We demand justice for India.
