To,
The Honorable President, Government of India,
New Delhi.
Through,
The District Magistrate,
Lucknow.
Dear Ma’am,
We the members of JAGRITI would like to bring to your kind attention towards the causes & the actions taken after the Mumbai blasts .The recent bomb blasts in Mumbai have come on as a shocking blow. A series of three coordinated bomb blasts took place at various places in Mumbai – Zaveri Bazaar, Opera House and Dadar. More than 20 people were declared dead and over 130 people were injured severely. It is sad that in spite of repeated attacks on Mumbai, the police and the Government have yet been unable to establish a strong homeland security system there. Moreover, the people of Mumbai have not still received justice. Ajmal Kasab the only terrorist who was caught alive in the 26/11 attacks is still alive & has not been awarded the punishments of his deeds.
It is extremely unsettling how the government has shown such insensitivity towards the feelings and well being of their own countrymen. Negligence has already done the country much harm, and now it is the time to take action against those who are responsible. It is uncanny how these attacks occurred on the same day as the 22nd birthday of terror accused, Ajmal Kasab. It makes one wonder if these explosions were a birthday gift given by terrorist organizations to Kasab.
Incidents, such as the 13th July blasts, will continue to occur until firm steps are taken. It is bizarre as to why Kasab has not been hung yet. Unless we wish to be attacked every year on his birthday, it is time we take action and get him a death sentence as soon as possible. As it is, it has deeply aroused the people as to why Kasab, or even Afzal Guru, for that matter, has not met his end yet – despite of killing so many innocent souls in the 26/11 & parliament attack.
If it continues this way, we would find ourselves a victim of attacks every few months. The terrorists have been proving from time to time that they are not scared of the Government by recklessly targeting one place and the other. The Government and the various agencies deployed to prevent the occurrence of such attacks have repeatedly failed to protect the people.
For all we know, it might be Afzal Guru’s birthday the next time the blasts go off. It is required that steps should be taken to prevent such attacks in future. It is sickeningly that terrorists have the audacity to perform such acts of terror right in front of authorities and get away with it. It is increasingly responsible for people losing trust in the government and the system. Such attacks damage national sentiments beyond repair, and hamper the faith of the people in the system and the government.
If adequate steps are not taken in the future, then such attacks will keep on repeating themselves. We would like you to take decision upon the mercy plea of Afzal Guru as soon as possible & look into the matter of providing justice to all the sufferers of terrorism.
Thanks & regards,
Dated- 25th July, 2011
